Mecha Monday

Thanks to school being (sort of) out, I've had a lot more time to build. Over the past two weeks, I was able to churn out these two battle-mechs. I love the versatility of the mecha theme, what other classification could contain both ladybugs and giant walking death machines?

Mutebank-42 "The Answer"

This first one was named by picking random words of of my T-shirt, sticking them together, and then adding the number 42 (as stickers). The 42 has significance only as a joke, violence is not the answer kids :-)

Mech

This second one I'm not entirely happy with, I think it would look better as some sort of racing mech instead of a battle-mech, expect a remix of this one sometime in the future.

Also, just fyi, I'll be going down to South Carolina for a speech and debate competition next week, so essentially nothing will change here :0)

Ladybug

For once, I didn't build something for a contest :)

Ladybug walking

This was a quick, fun build. If you've been reading the Brick-Bro's blog (brothers-brick.com) then you may have seen Lino M.'s rhinoceros beetle mech. I thought the idea of a bug-based battle machine was paradoxically cute, so I decided to make one of my own. Obviously, it's a Ladybug.

Wait... this blog isn't dead?

I'm not dead. This blog isn't dead. I just haven't built anything in a long time. Life does that. To make it up to you, here is my largest creation to date: Settling Our Differences

Settling our differences - 1

This diorama was built for the second annual Military Build Contest on Flickr, which I entered last year with my Commoner's Revolt diorama. This one took significantly less time to build, thanks to the lessons I learned from the commoners revolt. However, this one did take much more time to photograph, due to being much larger than the commoners revolt.

Thanks for watching!

starfighter

As promised... I builded something for the Show Us What You Got starfighter contest on flickr.

gunner class: "Abraham Tucker"

This was an interesting build, I was really trying to do something original with the shape, break away from the traditional arrow-head shape (X-Wing).  I think I succeded, you'll notice that it has no canopy, but it does actually fit a fig.

Inside joke

Yeah, I built a 120 pound robot in six weeks.
Then I built a Job Mullers entry in a half hour.

Smackmason

The whole thing is basically one big inside joke that you probably won't get unless you're familiar with the master of smack, Keith Goldman

Also in the works, a starfighter for another contest on Flickr.  It seems like I only build for contests, but I must admit, they do provide a motive.  That helps.

And the answer is...

...Door number three. I couldn't choose between my two small starfighters, so I built a third one and entered it.  The Crimson Naux

What's this? I builded?

Happy Martin Luther Kind Jr. Day!  I've taken full advantage of the long weekend (and the fact that I don't do FRC on Sunday's) to churn out some small spacecraft for the Small Starfighter built contest.  The challenge was to built a space craft that could hold a minifig... but it had to fit into a 14x14x5 stud box... it seams easy enough, but keeping your craft from looking as proportional as a cartoon character is difficult.  I've built two so far, but I'll have to choose one of them (one entry/person)

Decide

(one entry/person) Here you can see both of them, the top one is called Sunflahs, the bottom one is Aculeus (sting in Latin)

FRC update: Top secret, I'll post photos after the unveiling on Feb. 17th.
